New Hitchiker's Guide Book, Um... Adams is Dead.

Douglas Adams' The Hitchhiker's Guide series will be continued in 2009 by Eoin Colfer, Author of the Artemis Fowl Series. The book will be titled, "And Another Thing..." and will be published in October of 2009.

According to his interview with Reuters,
"For years I have been finishing this incredible story in my head and now I have the opportunity to do it in the real world," he said in a statement. "It is a gift from the Gods. So, thank you Thor and Odin."

...Adams died from a heart attack in California in 2001 at the age of 49. He had hoped to finish the series with a sixth novel.

"Five seems to be a wrong kind of number; six is a better kind of number," he once said.

It is reported that Mrs. Adams gave Colfer her blessing for him to write the sixth book.

This seems like a sell-out-move to me. The Hitchhikers Guide series was magnificent, and even though it was prematurely ended, the absense of a sixth book is a reminder of Adam's untimely death.

But, I guess after you finish your own series you should feel free to work on someone elses. You can never have too much money.

Maybe after this book, Colfer can work on 3061 A space Odyssey, or I Am Robot 2.
